PPA attacks Pema
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: People's Party of Arunachal has said that the Speaker's office has lost the files on the merger of PPA with the BJP.
"Reports say the Chief Minister has snatched all these files from the Speaker for constructing and reconstructing the papers so that they may pass the test before the Speaker and the Courts" said a statement by PPA president Kahfa Bengia.
The PPA further said that it was not Bharatiya Janata Party Government that came into the saddle, but a Betrayers Janata Party that took over.
The statement further went on to accuse the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Mechukha MLA Pasang Dorjee Sona as chief betrayers.
PPA demanded that "CBI should cause an inquiry and frame this duo before they loot and plunder the State any further".
The PPA further accused the Chief Minister of being "poor in vision and administrative acumen".
"His only job is to swindle the State and satisfy the bosses in Delhi in return for retention in power" the party added.
"The day the people of Arunachal Pradesh through their representatives in the Assembly will give a befitting verdict on Pema Khandu over Kalikho Pul's suicide note, is not very far" it went on to add.
CM asks BRO to expedite works on Balipara-
TAWANG, Jan 24: Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a meeting with BRO here on Monday called
for expediting the Balipara-
Pema after reviewing the status of the road assured to take up various problems being faced by the executing agency, including financial matter at the highest level.
Observing the slow pace of the road work, the chief minister opined that road construction work can be expedited by handing it over to a particular organization after the tendering process with BRO remaining the nodal agency.
The chief minister also discussed on land acquisition, compensation and various other issues related to BRO roads within the district.
Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi also requested the BRO to expedite the work by deploying more workforces. He asked for early maintenance of road from Changprong to Tawang monastery via Nehru market, which is to be followed during the proposed visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in March.

Govt to prepare food grains road map

Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company (MCCC), one of the premier casting companies in India, selected Matin for the film after a series of auditions across the country.
Sometimes in June 2016, MCCC landed in Itanagar to audition dozens of children, wherein Matin Rey was chosen for final audition in Mumbai alongside five other children. Matin was finally selected.

DoT assures special package for Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Secretary, Department of Telecommunication (DOT) GoI, J S Deepak has assured special package for Arunachal Pradesh to develop telecommunications in the state.
The DoT Secretary assured this when Chief Secretary Shakuntala D. Gamlin made the proposal, among others, during the two days meeting of Department of Telecom at Guwahati, which concluded on Tuesday.
Deepak said that the Union Ministry of Telecommunication will install around 6000 towers across North East under the comprehensive telecom development plant for North East India.
The project will connect more than 8000 villages across the region in next two years. BSNL will do this work in Arunachal Pradesh, he said.
During the meeting the Chief Secretary apprised the Department of Telecom of the need to expand telecommunications in the strategically located state, mainly in view of GST implementation, demonetization, educational purposes, promotion and development of tourism sector etc.

Meanwhile, the Secretary DoT of the Union Govt. assured to make more bandwidth available, wherever the VSATs are being installed, especially in district headquarters, interim improved connectivity through VSAT till Optical Fibres are laid and connectivity through OFC within a period of 2 years.

Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) President Bengia Dipti said that there still gender inequality exists in the society, which needs to be addressed properly by creating awareness about various schemes and Acts implemented by the government for the welfare, development and protection of female children.

DRDA employees to launch democratic movement
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: Frustrated with the state government's inaction in addressing its long felt demand of getting absorbed in the state government, the All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association, Arunachal Pradesh State Unit has warned of launching democratic movement if the demands are not fulfilled by Feb 18th next.
Resolving to begin its first phase of democratic movement by Feb 20th, it expressed disappointment that despite its several representations the government has failed to address their problem.
Its other demands include regular disbursement and withdrawal of DRDA salary through Treasury bill in line with other government departments.

Chai takes stock of developmental activities
PASIGHAT, Jan 24: Animal health care service and prevention of animal diseases are priority for maintenance of a healthy stock for optimum production, stated Minister for AH&V and Art & Culture Dr. Mahesh Chai during a visit to Berung piggery breeding firm, VTI (Veterinary Training Institute), DVO office and Veterinary Hospital at Pasighat on Tuesday.
Dr. Chai along with DVO Dr. Jikom Panor, Key Village Officer Dr. Naku Taloh and DACO A Jamoh inspected the existing infrastructure and facilities, including hostels of trainees at VTI and interacted with the officials, staff and trainees.
At Berung Pig Breeding firm, the minister appreciated the officials for excellent management and opined that creation of suitable infrastructure for breeding, feeding and management of livestock and products must be given due importance. The local production has considerably increased but there is further scope for which efforts should be made, Chai added.
He also took stock of the ongoing construction of "IDDP Dairy Plant" and interacted with the plant engineer. He assured to have detailed discussion with the Managing Director Dr. Migo Riba at Nirjuli shortly for further course of action.
Chai also visited the Liquid Nitrogen Plant and Veterinary Hospital. Emphasizing the team spirit, he urged the officers and staffs to work with a missionary zeal. He further said that the department has to provide extensive supports to the farmers/producers so as to promote scientific rearing of livestock with consequent generation of employment avenues in the rural areas.
To bring about a developmental change in the sector with broader objectives, the department should put all out efforts to protect livestock from the ravages of diseases through treatment and preventive vaccinations and introduce improved breeding techniques for upgrading the local stock. Building up of adequate technical and professional manpower, they should also ensure better animal husbandry practices through adoption of extension and research.
He felt the need for a sophisticated operation theatre for ensuring painless operation of animal and additional doctor to enable the hospital facilitate round the clock health delivery.
Chai, who also is the minister of Art and Culture, has stated that aims and objectives of the department is propagation, promotion and development of art and culture as an integral part of composite culture of Arunachal Pradesh.

Girl lifters continue to shine in Khelo India

Awareness campaign on Centre’s flagship progs
KOLORIANG, Jan 24: An awareness campaign on various flagship programmes of the Centre and banking facilities was conducted at Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner's conference hall here on Tuesday.
The resource persons from the SBI, through PowerPoint presentations, explained various flagship programmes launched by the union government, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Stand Up India, Digital India to the participants.
The participants comprising of PRI leaders, local businessmen and officers were told about the ways to avail such schemes via apps such as Buddy, SBI Pay, Aadhar enabled payment system etc. The resource persons also said the cashless transaction will ease the public from the usual harassment of standing in the long queues even for small transactions.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang explained in details about the Digital India movement as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The DC asked the officers, PRI leaders and local businessmen present on the occasion to spread the knowledge they have gained in today's awareness campaign to others also.
During the interaction programme, however, the participants expressed their reservation over the cashless transactions. They opined that the places like Kurung Kumey which doesn't have good internet connection will have a problem with the cashless transaction.

ITANAGAR, Jan 24: A massive fire broke out at Damsite, Narharlagun at around 6pm on Monday gutting down the houses of former Koloriang MLA Lokam Tassar and Golo Sasung. Reportedly former MLA also suffered minor injury in the incident.
Member, Empowered Standing Committee, Itanagar Municipal Council, Tarh Kunia in a press release while informing that properties worth lakhs of rupees were damaged in the incident, appealed to the district administration to provide immediate relief to the victims.

IPPI camp at Parsuram Kund
ITANAGAR, Jan 24: The District Health Society of Lohit organized a two days special polio immunization camp at Parsuram kund on the eve of Makar Sankranti.
The camp was organized to vaccinate the children of tourists from different states of the country and Nepal, who visited the area to take holy dip at Parsuram Kund
Total coverage during this festival was 144 children.

Saying that his demise is a great loss to the entire Galo community and Likabali area in particular, the society offered condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.

State media gains more strength
The launch of newest newspaper, Arunachal Observer on Monday has added another feather in the arms of Arunachal media. This has taken the number of English daily in the state to 8. In the last 10 years the state media has witnessed sudden growth with launch of several newspapers and news magazines. While the print media is starting to make its presence felt, the electronic media is still struggling for survival. The absence of active electronic media is huge disadvantage for the fledging media industry.
Even though the print media is seeing some success but still there is long way to go. Barring few, the majority of newspapers are struggling for survival. Lack of revenue has made it extremely difficult for the owners to run the paper. Most of them are running paper due to sheer love for media and with hope that things will improve in future. State government has also done little to support the media industry. Government bills are kept pending for years. Bureaucrats create so many hurdles while clearing the ad bills. Also there is still lack of trust between press and Arunachalee citizens. Majority of newspaper are owned by the political families. Because of this citizens always distrust the media houses. Despite not so conducive atmosphere, the press in general has done decent job. Unlike their mainland counterpart, the press in Arunachal has been responsible enough while reporting on sensitive issues and has never taken side. In a highly sensitive tribal state like ours it is remarkable achievement.

It will be a disheartening moment if Jeli couldn't make to top-
Lets not leave any stone unturned to make our hero the "Indian-
We shouldn’t forget that "Jeli Kayi" is the representative of Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast as a whole.
In fact our government should also give their best support financially or morally
to make Jeli the Indian-

Voters as tenants
Dear Editor,
A Republic country is governed by a President and Politicians elected by the People. So, we ~ Indian voters ~ need to realize our responsibility and importance. Unfortunately, voters are regarded as tenants in our democracy. As a result, our entitlements are branded as freebies. Such a mindset is dangerous for a democracy. We need to understand that in a democracy, MPs and MLAs are not zamindars. They are our representatives. It is we who send politicians to the House of the People. Moreover, every Indian has to pay a substantial amount of tax in our indirect tax regime. Like the consumers, we should have similar rights and protections if our political representatives fail us and spend Govt money without considering our urgent need.
